Stay aware, not afraid

Practical, local guidance. Small habits make a big difference.

Emergency numbers

999National emergency: police, fire service, ambulance

Numbers listed for awareness. Always confirm with official sources.

Avoiding chhintai

  1. 1On rickshaws and CNGs, keep your phone and bag on the side away from the road.
  2. 2Avoid using your phone at the roadside edge, especially at night near flyovers and junctions.
  3. 3Wear bags across the body, zip facing you.
  4. 4If it happens, let go. Your safety matters more than your phone.

On rickshaws, CNGs & buses

  1. 1On a rickshaw, hold your bag on your lap and keep your phone out of sight.
  2. 2On a bus, don't use your phone next to an open window. People grab it from outside.
  3. 3Keep CNG and car windows up in traffic jams and at signals.
  4. 4Share your ride number (CNG/car) with someone you trust.

Walking at night

  1. 1Prefer main roads with shops open, even if a little longer.
  2. 2Check the map's time view for the hour you'll be out.
  3. 3Keep one earphone out so you stay aware of surroundings.
  4. 4Note nearby open shops, pharmacies, or police boxes along your way.

If something happens

Don't rush. Get yourself safe first. The phone can wait.

  1. Move to a busy, well-lit public place.

  2. Call 999 if you are hurt or in danger.

  3. Block your SIM and report your lost phone (IMEI) with your provider.

  4. Freeze bKash / Nagad / bank cards if they were taken.

  5. File a GD (General Diary) at the nearest police station or online.

  6. When you're ready, share what happened here to help others stay aware.
