Reporting rules
How reporting works, how often you can report, and how we keep the map accurate, all in plain words.
How often you can report
- You can send one report every 30 minutes, and at most 5 a day, from the same phone or internet connection.
- You can send up to 5 reports a day.
- If you hit the limit, just wait a bit and try again. It resets on its own.
- Before a report is sent, there's a quick check to make sure you're a person, not a bot.
What you can report
- A snatching that happened to you or in front of you.
- A place where snatching happens a lot, if you know the area.
- Good news too, like street lights, police patrols, open shops or CCTV.
- You can report things from up to a year ago, but not future dates or times.
Your identity stays private
- You don't need a name, phone number or account.
- We only keep the rough location, within about 150 metres. Never your exact address.
- If you type a phone number or email by mistake, we remove it for you. Keep your note under 500 characters.
- We don't store your phone's or connection's real details, just a secret code so we can tell if one person keeps reporting.
How reports are checked
- New reports count for less at first. They count more once a moderator checks them or others report the same thing.
- If 3 reports from one phone turn out to be fake within a month, that phone can't report for 7 days.
- If lots of reports suddenly come from just a few phones in one place, a moderator takes a look.
- You can tap “I've seen this too” on other people's reports up to 30 times a day. It doesn't count on your own report.
When an area shows on the map
- An area needs at least 3 reports from 2 different people before it shows up, so nobody can tell who reported it.
- News stories are already public, so a single news report can show an area, with a link to the original story.
- Older reports slowly count for less, so the map shows what's happening now.
- The colour shows how many reports came in. Green doesn't mean safe, and red doesn't mean certain danger.
Adding a video
- You can add a video to a snatching report if you have one. It must be under 90 MB; for a bigger clip, upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and paste the link.
- A moderator watches every video first. If it's fine, it appears on the area page, without sound.
- If a video is rejected, it's deleted for good.
Please don't
- Don't report made-up events, write anyone's name, or use the site to harass someone.
- Don't post offensive, explicit or advertising content.
- Report each incident once. If others saw it too, they can tap “I've seen this too”.
